From: 18:30-20:00

ESD Gallery has the pleasure in inviting you to the opening night of Christopher Lewis’s exhibition, LANDSCAPES.

To be opened by Independent MP Alex Greenwich.

Please join us on Tuesday evening March 17 between 6.30 - 8:00 for drinks with the artist.

Christopher Lewis in his fine paintings of the urban and natural landscape creates arousal with curiosity and nuance. The work, in oils or gouache, highlights the complexity of these landscapes by creating illusions of continuous and unseen spaces. These areas recede into the background, inviting the viewer to use imagination and the magic is therefore contained in the interpretation of those mysterious, unseen or hidden parts of the paintings.

Within his latest suite of paintings; LANDSCAPES, Lewis has meticulously painted Sydney's streetscapes with fine detail. Under the vibrant blue Sydney skies over Darlinghurst which gave way to the smokey atmosphere of last summer, he has softened his normally vibrant palate momentarily before the hazy blue sky returns in the large work titled, Victoria Street.

LANDSCAPES comprises original works and Limited Edition prints in what Lewis describes as,

"a genre of Magical Realism Landscape Painting".

Christopher Lewis has lived and worked on his art practice in inner Sydney since 1978. LANDSCAPES is his 15th Solo exhibition.

Exhibition runs from 17th March to 2nd May 2020

Curator, Gordon R Carmichael
